Armenian Evangelical Church of Belgium
A Gospel-centered Christian community
Who are we?
The AECB, like every church, has its own historical identity, beliefs, practices, and statement of faith derived from the Bible. These form the foundation of the AECB and govern its life and spiritual activities. The AECB confesses, practices, and proclaims them to others.
Identity and history of the AECB
1.The AECB was officially founded as a non-profit organization (ASBL) in 1991 with the support of the Armenian Missionary Association of America (AMAA) and the Union of Armenian Evangelical Churches of France (UEEAF). Subsequently, the church founded a second church in Liège in 1996, an Armenian-speaking one in Brussels in 2000, in Hasselt in 2001, and in Antwerp in 2002.
2.The AECB was founded under the spiritual authority and statement of faith of the UEEAF. The AECB is part of the Fellowship of Armenian Evangelical Churches in Europe and, through this Fellowship, the global family of Armenian Evangelical Churches active around the world. The Church is also a member of the Federal Synod of Protestant and Evangelical Churches of Belgium.
3.The AECB sees itself in the lineage of the Armenian Evangelical Churches founded in 1846 in Constantinople, Turkey.
4.The AECB does not claim to hold the only truth. It is only a small visible part of the universal Church and the professing churches founded on the Word of God. The AECB extends a brotherly hand to all believers or churches that accept the Bible as the supreme authority and confess the lordship of Christ, regardless of race, nationality, or language.
5.The AECB is not part of the Pentecostal or charismatic movements but believes in divine healing and the continuation of certain spiritual gifts serving to edify the Church. God still performs various miracles today according to His sovereign will by answering the prayers of His children.
6.For the AECB, having about ten converted and baptized people is enough to officially be called a « local church ».
